Carolyn Weir’s Kinetic Mobile Sculptures

As a former kite maker Carolyn delights in seeing colorful shapes aloft.  While presenting a gift of a necklace to a friend, they commented that, “It is kind of kinetic”.  Not knowing what that friend meant, Carolyn went home and researched kinetics.  After discovering the sculptural works of Alexander  Calder, Timothy Rose and others, she knew instantly that this was a sculptural form she could really sink her tools into.  It was a perfect fit for skills already in her resume.

One winter she was faced with a problem.....  How to spray paint aluminum pieces when it is too cold to spray paint outside.  After allot of testing she has found a way to combine the beauty of watercolor paintings and kinetic mobiles in a unique way.

Carolyn strives to create original kinetic mobile sculptures not only in color design but movement designs.  She strives hard to ensure that her works are originals and not copies of the master, Alexander Calder.  To own one of her mobiles is to own a completely unique sculpture.
